(3BL Media) June 11, 2012 - Intel Corporation has provided public reports on its environmental, health and safety performance since 1994 and produced an annual Corporate Responsibility Report since 2001.

The new 2011 report builds on the company’s long-history of transparency and illustrates Intel’s focus on applying technology and employee skills to transform education, expand technology access, and improve economic and environmental sustainability through innovation. The report also identifies areas of focus for continuous improvement such as resource use reductions, energy efficiency, and maintaining world-class safety performance. Highlights include:

Environmental Sustainability. Intel has set new 2020 environmental goals related to GHG emissions, energy efficiency, water and waste, to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing operations and the energy efficiency of its products.

Supply Chain Responsibility. Intel increased supplier assessment and audit activities and continues to take action to address the issue of conflict minerals in the supply chain.

Contributions to Society. In 2011, half of Intel's workforce donated more than 1.1 million hours of service in schools and nonprofit organizations globally, and surpassed 10 million teachers trained worldwide through the Intel® Teach Program.

The report also discusses the actions Intel is taking to further embed corporate responsibility into its culture and decision-making, from providing funding for innovative employee sustainability projects to linking a portion of employee compensation to environmental goals. Based on stakeholder feedback regarding trends in assurance and external verification, Intel also engaged Ernst & Young LLP to conduct an independent review of selected indicators included in the report.
