In celebration of its 40th Anniversary, Southwest Airlines is teaming up with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) for the Conservation In Action Tour: 40 Projects for 40 Years to take their commitment to volunteerism and their passion for conservation on the road, literally!  Over the course of the Conservation in Action Tour, Southwest Employees and Customers will work with the SCA to organize and complete 40 conservation projects: one for every year Southwest Airlines has been in business.  The Tour will visit 25 U.S. cities.

The seventh and eighth stop on the tour were Las Vegas, Nevada, and Denver, Colorado.  The RV may have gotten stuck in the mud, but that didn't stop the SCA and Southwest Airlines from making a difference in the Mountain Region.

The Tour arrived in Las Vegas just in time to help the Las Vegas Springs Preserve clean up after a big storm.  Volunteers cleared trails and collected ten full bags of litter.

In Denver, the Team conducted a conservation project at Barr Lake State Park in conjunction with Lake Appreciation Day 2011.  Volunteers organized and cleaned up a parking lot, as well as planted grass and removed invasive plants.

Keep up with the "Conservation in Action" Tour on the Southwest Airlines blog!  Check back often for stories from the road, recaps from each conservation project, and photos from around the country.
