The National Diversity Council Announces the Top 15 Diverse Companies in Ohio

The National Diversity Council announces 2018’s Top 15 Diverse Companies in Ohio. The Top 15 is derivative from the Diversity in Corporate Governance Report. The report is comprised of research performed by the National Diversity Council and is based on researched of racial, ethnic and gender diversity of corporate executive leadership and board membership of the 55 Fortune 1000 companies located in Ohio as compared with data for the states.

Global Impact: Innovation’s Next Frontier

Recently, attendees from around the world gathered in San Francisco for the Global Climate Action Summit. The event celebrated achievements in climate action and served as a launchpad for deeper and accelerated commitments to prevent dangerous climate change. Attendees represented a diverse cross-section of state and local leaders, businesses, investors, scientists, students and nonprofits. While the aim of the summit was specific to driving positive impact, one thing was clear: diverse perspectives, technologies and tools were not only significant drivers of progress made to date, but also the most-essential components of plans for accelerated change and global impact in the future.

Jimmy Carter and Wells Fargo Build ‘Hope’ for Habitat Homeowners

Hammers pounded, saws cut, cranes lifted trusses, and St. Joseph County, Indiana, residents like Anneliese Bennett literally built a new life for themselves in Mishawaka, Indiana. The future Habitat for Humanity homeowner built her house alongside a group of 1,773 Habitat for Humanity volunteers ­­— led by former President Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter. Volunteering in Guatemala With Pencils of Promise

In 2017, American Apparel launched a capsule collection of hoodies, t-shirts and bags in collaboration with Pencils of Promise (POP) to provide support for teachers and fund the construction of new schools in Guatemala, Ghana and Laos, contributing U.S. $220,000. POP is a US-based not-for-profit organization that works to increase access to education and raise global awareness of child illiteracy as there are 250 million children worldwide who lack basic reading, writing and math skills.

Costa Cruises and AISM: Tours Now Also Accessible to Guests with Disabilities for the First Time

Costa Cruises, AISM (Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association) and the Costa Crociere Foundation present the results of a joint project aimed at making vacations increasingly accessible to people with impaired mobility. For the first time in the world in the cruise sector, guests with disabilities will be able to participate in group shore excursions, at no extra cost, with accessibility verified by AISM, in accordance with the most advanced international good practices.

Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Deliver “Gestures of Hope” to Cancer Patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

Executives from Subaru of America’s corporate headquarters and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) delivered messages of hope and 100 specially made blankets to outpatients at MD Anderson at Cooper to help encourage patients and keep them warm as they continue their fight against cancer.

UN Global Compact Recognizes Most Engaged Companies at Leaders Summit 2018

Today, the United Nations Global Compact is pleased to announce the businesses that have been recognized as Global Compact LEAD companies for demonstrating ongoing commitment to the UN Global Compact and its Ten Principles for responsible business.

Announced at UN Headquarters in New York during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2018, these companies were identified as being among the most engaged participants of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The 34 Global Compact LEAD companies recognized today represent every region of the world and 19 sectors.

With increasing recognition of the imperative for companies and investors to transform their business models in order to generate sustainable returns while achieving the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals, there’s greater need for a “transformation blueprint.” Responding to this need, Reporting 3.0 is rolling out the Transformation Journey Program (TJP), based on our Transformation Journey Blueprint, in Workshop Series in Europe and North America. The Workshop Series, which focus on Sustainable Finance, will be hosted by ING in Amsterdam, John Hancock / Manulife in Boston, and McMaster University in Toronto between November 2018 and May 2019.
