As enchanting as coastal sea oats look, their golden tassels dancing in the ocean breeze from Florida’s Panhandle to North Carolina’s Outer Banks, what lies hidden beneath the sand is even more magical. The roots of this dainty-looking grass extend as deep as 5 feet below the surface, and literally anchor the dunes in place. For the fragile barrier islands, sea oats are the first line of defense.
Annie Lam has been with Sands China Ltd (SCL) for almost 13 years, joining the company in 2005. Lam started with the company as a Guest Service Supervisor at Sands Macao, managing hotel operations and then two years later, transferred to the Community Affairs department, implementing the company’s CSR program in Macao.
Sands for Singapore, an initiative through Sands Cares, is a multi-day festival that serves to increase public awareness of partner charities and raise funds for them through several series of events. After completing the course, Las Vegas Sands Team Member, Cortez Robles, became a US citizen on March 10, 2018.

In March, Sands Bethlehem hosted a team from the Bacardi Group for two days of meetings and dinners. As part of their visit, the team built 500 hygiene kits for veterans, women and children, providing them with access to soap and other personal hygiene products. The kits were donated to the Victory House, YWCA of Bethlehem and Donegan Elementary School.
Ten years ago, senior vice president, chief procurement and sustainability officer Norbert Riezler, was appointed to manage the U.S. procurement department for Las Vegas Sands and within 18 months, was asked to head the department globally by Chairman and CEO, Sheldon Adelson. Three years later, he was asked to lead the sustainability department globally, managing the program in Macao and Singapore as well.
