Booz Allen’s Joe Rohner Named Among AFCEA’s 40 Under 40
Joe Rohner, data scientist and chief technologist within Booz Allen’s Strategic Innovation Group, has been named among AFCEA International’s 40 Under 40 for 2019.
AFCEA International is a global organization for government, military, and industry professionals working in communications, IT, intelligence, and global security. The award recognizes AFCEA members 40 years of age or under who have made “a significant contribution to supporting their organization or client through the use of information technology or providing innovation and thought leadership in a technical STEM field.”
Advancing data science and visualization
Joe Rohner is a Chief Technologist in Booz Allen Hamilton's Strategic Innovation Group Analytics’ team focused on delivering data science, artificial intelligence, and analytics solutions in the Pacific and for the Department of Navy, helping define how Navy can use data science to become a more mission-ready organization. In this role, he manages a diverse team that develops and implements machine learning algorithms to include deep learning techniques for natural language processing and computer vision, analytical applications/tools/environments, and robotic process automation that enables organizations to advance their technical sophistication with new data science and machine learning techniques.
Joe has supported Department of Navy clients for over 13 years on a variety of analytics and data science engagements and acted as lead architect of the Data Science track for Navy's HACKtheMACHINE in Austin and Boston. Most recently, Joe has taken leadership of the Data Science Bowl®, presented by Booz Allen Hamilton and Kaggle, the world’s largest data science competition for social good. Joe is a boundary-pushing, innovative, data science leader who is helping bridge the gap between operational and mission requirements and big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Joining an elite group
As a member of the 2019 AFCEA 40 Under 40, Rohner joins awardees from the military, leading research institutions, and multinational corporations. All have been selected through a merit-based review process of nominations from around the world.
This is not Booz Allen’s first award from AFCEA. The organization has also recognized individuals from the firm with its Women’s Appreciation Award and its Chairman’s Superior Performance Award.
