Cradles to Crayons for Volunteer Month
In honor of April being National Volunteer month in the U.S., we would like to thank all of our associate volunteers who make an impact in our communities around the world
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, nearly 130,000 children live in poverty and lack access to basic needs, including clothing. Kohler's U.S. East Region Wholesale Management team volunteered for the nonprofit, Cradles to Crayons, to help make a positive impact on the lives of local children.
Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive. The organization collects new and nearly new children's items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations.
The Kohler team spent the morning creating welcome cards for children's school packs. The team also sorted through hundreds of clothing donations, inspecting and organizing items by quality, size and gender. These items are then put together into a packet for distribution to one specific child. In addition, the team collectively purchased and donated $300 of children's winter clothing and baby essentials. According to the team, it was an extremely rewarding experience for everyone who participated.
