LA Galaxy to Host 4th Annual Pride Night on June 24 at StubHub Center
AEG’s LA Galaxy to Honor Covenant House as Community Partner of the Match; Will Host In-Game Toiletry Drive for Homeless Youth
LOS ANGELES, June 22, 2017 /3BL Media/ – AEG’s LA Galaxy will celebrate the LGBTQ community of Los Angeles with its 4th Annual Pride Night at StubHub Center on Saturday, June 24, as part of the Galaxy’s home match against Sporting KC, presented by Hotel Tonight (7:30 p.m. PT, Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes). As part of the celebration, Covenant House, which offers housing and support services to homeless, runaway and trafficked youth, will serve as the Community Partner of the Match.
Supporters that arrive early will receive a free #GalaxyPride rally towel, available to the first 15,000 fans inside StubHub Center. Early arrivers will see LA Galaxy players prepare for the match in limited edition Pride warm up tops, available for auction via the LA Galaxy Foundation. Rainbow corner flags, rainbow lights and rainbow confetti will be on display to compliment the evening’s festivities.
LA Galaxy and Covenant House will also host an in-game drive to collect essential toiletries such as deodorant, bar soap, body wash, shaving cream and toothpaste. Items will be collected outside each stadium entrance from 5:45-8 p.m.
Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit youth homeless shelter that provides sanctuary and support for homeless and trafficked youth, ages 18-24 that serves more than 1,800 youth a year. Collectively, CHC has served more than 186,000 homeless youth since opening its doors. CHC provides a full continuum of services to meet the physical, emotional, educational, vocational, and spiritual well-being of young people, in order to provide them with the best chance for success in independence.
In celebration and support of Pride Month, AEG also launched its #BetterAsOne social media campaign to raise awareness around diversity and inclusion. In addition to the “Better As One” social media campaign, AEG hosted a panel discussion at The Novo by Microsoft at L.A. LIVE, for its global employee workforce that focused on LGBTQ initiatives in the sports and entertainment industry.
