Mercados y Tendencias: US Department of State Launches “Power to Grow” Challenge

The US State Department, together with World Environment Center (WEC), Le Groupe-conseil baastel Itée (Baastel), and RioSlum Studio, announced the launching of the “Power to Grow” Challenge. The Challenge is open to NGOs operating in the member countries of La Red de Innovación e Impacto, with April 27th as the application due date.

“Power to Grow will select non-for profit organizations to work with current members of La Red de Innovación e Impacto in order to accelerate innovation and job creation for micro-enterprises of Central America, specifically in the agriculture, agroindustry and textile sectors. Another main goal will be to strengthen their exporting capacity and generate economic prosperity”, as mentioned by Ernesto Samayoa, Director of Latin America at WEC.

Power to Grow: The Innovation Challenge Fueled By La Red de Innovación e Impacto aims to support micro-enterprises by creating partnerships between mission-aligned organizations and current La Red member companies. Power to Grow selects innovative organizations to join forces with La Red companies (Alumni) towards: accelerating innovation and job creation opportunities for Central American micro-enterprises in the agriculture, agro-industry, and textiles sectors; building capacity of micro-enterprises to expand to new regional and international markets, with a focus on the U.S. market; and, generating economic prosperity across Central America. Awardees will receive a comprehensive support package, up to $43,000 to promote their solution, and partnership with a current member of La Red de Innovación e Impacto working towards the same goal.
