WASHINGTON D.C., February 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Rebuilding Together — a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing that provides low-income homeowners with critical home repairs — will join together with its affiliate, Rebuilding Together San Francisco and more than fifteen NFL players from teams across the country, to lead its 21st annual Kickoff to Rebuild, a Super Bowl 50 sanctioned event. This year’s event, in partnership with Lowe’s, will take place on February 5 in the Bayview neighborhood and will be the culmination of a series of projects across the Bay Area by five Rebuilding Together affiliates.

For 21 years, Rebuilding Together has partnered with the NFL in Super Bowl cities across the country, rebuilding homes and bringing together communities – investing more than $5 million nationwide. Together, we have transformed more than 110 homes and engaged more than 3,700 volunteers. This year’s event, with nearly 100 volunteers from corporate and community partners — including 50 Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers — will provide six low-income families with home repairs and restore Jelani House, a social services agency providing substance abuse treatment for women with children.

Kickoff to Rebuild will serve as the final event in a five-project series led by Rebuilding Together’s Bay Area affiliates (East-Bay North, Oakland, Peninsula, Silicon Valley, in addition to San Francisco). These projects, along with Rebuilding Together’s year-round work in the Bay Area, go beyond making homes safe and healthy. As one of the most expensive housing markets in the country, affordable housing options are disappearing rapidly. Rebuilding Together’s efforts help homeowners maintain home ownership, preserving intergenerational wealth and ensuring families, neighbors and communities remain together.

This event will also launch Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together’s nationwide partnership activities for 2016, including the Rebuild-A-Block project series. These two-day intensive rebuild projects will take place in Dallas, New York City, Seattle and Denver from February through April, and will provide critical upgrades and rehabilitation to homes and a local community or nonprofit space.

“We at Lowe’s realize that it takes a team to change a community and make a difference,” said James Frison, Lowe’s director of community relations. “By partnering with Rebuilding Together on efforts like Kickoff to Rebuild and Rebuild-A-Blocks, we are able to use our resources and skills to help families maintain safe and healthy homes.”

The majority of homeowners impacted through Kickoff to Rebuild are longtime members of the Bay Area community and range in need of support. Volunteers will participate in a variety of critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, painting, landscaping and other major home rehabilitations. This effort is made possible through the generous support of the event’s national and local partners, including lead partner Lowe’s, as well as CBRE, Bose, Bridgestone, Swinerton Builders, Lendlease and Pacific Structures.

“We appreciate the support, dedication and hard work put forth by Rebuilding Together San Francisco and the Bay Area affiliates, our volunteers, our sponsors and the NFL. Through this collaborative effort, we are truly able to transform lives and revitalize communities,” said Caroline Blakely president and CEO of Rebuilding Together.
