“Sustainability goes hand in hand with the Tetra Pak brand promise – PROTECTS WHAT’S GOOD™ – and the three pillars on which it stands: food, people and futures. Our activities in all three areas over the past year show sustainability is ever more deeply embedded in our business, in our corporate culture and in the expectations of our customers and consumers,” advises Dennis Jönsson, CEO & President at Tetra Pak.

Highlights from the report:

FOOD
Protecting food is the core focus of the business and is driven by the company’s vision to make food safe and available, everywhere.

  • Tetra Pak’s processing, packaging and service solutions and activities help customers protect food, preserving its flavour and nutritional value, and keeping it safe and hygienic for extended periods of time.
  • Tetra Pak’s Dairy Hubs help customers in developing countries access better quality locally produced milk. Read about a new project in Sri Lanka that is helping develop the dairy value chain.
  • Did you know that in 2015, over 9 billion Tetra Pak packages containing milk or other nutritious drinks reached more than 70 million children in schools across 56 countries, as part of a school feeding programme?

PEOPLE
Protecting people focuses on Tetra Pak’s commitment to its employees, the communities in which it operates and society as a whole.

  • It’s important for people to feel motivated, connected and valued. Find out who Tetra Pak’s Excellence in Leadership award went to in 2015 and why.
  • How do you ensure 23,600 employees are free from harm in every project and activity? Take a look at Tetra Pak’s Health & Safety achievements that do just this.

FUTURES
Tetra Pak’s third pillar is about protecting futures, by developing products and services that will support the future business growth of its customers, and by acting and operating in ways that best protect the future of the earth.

  • 43 Billion Tetra Pak carton packages were recycled in 2015: that’s approximately 600k tonnes of material being made into new products!
  • Collecting 9 awards, Tetra Pak is proud to be recognised for the world’s first fully renewable carton made entirely from plant-based materials – Tetra Rex® Bio-based
  • Tetra Pak reduced its emissions by 15% while increasing the number of packages sold by 16%
