Numbers always tell a story. Sometimes good, sometimes not. This year’s annual Giving Report doesn’t tell a good story, it tells a great one. We have our employees to thank for that.

At Avnet, we know our great employees are one of the biggest differentiators for us in the marketplace. They are our best brand ambassadors. From the dedication and service they provide to our customers, to their commitment to help transform businesses, to stepping up to make a difference in our communities, they make a vast impact around the world – and nothing demonstrates this more than our annual Giving Report.

An overview of our annual giving shows an impressive upward trajectory over last year’s contributions demonstrating how our employees are engaged, inspired and committed to helping local communities:

§  We provided $1,191,399 in charitable donations, an overall global increase of 17 percent year-over-year.

§  We supported 284 nonprofit organizations in 24 countries.

§  We volunteered 15,153 hours.

§  We expanded our employee participation to 11 more countries, an increase of 85 percent.

§  We saw triple-digit donation increases in both the Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

§  We had a 154 percent increase in fundraising events

A key component of our success lies in our charitable giving programs, which enable us to support nonprofits that our employees feel the most passionate about and what takes our engagement and contributions from good to great.

From legacy events like our 22-year Serve-a-Thon with HandsOn Greater Phoenix in the U.S., to 14 years of fundraising in Germany through EBV’s Electronica event and innovative events like our mascot wars, our employees are undoubtedly ambitious in the various ways they volunteer and drive charitable giving to local communities.

As many corporate social responsibility (CSR) practitioners can relate, reporting can be daunting and is often a labor of love. For me, producing this report is certainly the latter, but more so an honor because it’s an opportunity to showcase the ways our employees serve as a guiding force to transform our global communities.

A big thank you goes out to our employees for their impressive commitment and innovative ideas that made an impact around the world.
