Timberland employees assisted Seacoast Adopt-A-Block with their holiday giving program by sorting and wrapping gifts for low-income families.

Last year, global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Path of ServiceTM volunteer program, which offers employees up to 40 paid hours each year to serve in their communities. The brand finished the year strong by engaging employees at its Stratham, New Hampshire headquarters to serve 200 families through the annual Holiday Giving Tree. Other year-end service events included sorting and wrapping donated toys at Seacoast Adopt-A-Block, a local non-profit that serves low-income families, and serving meals with Gather, a New Hampshire food pantry.  

Throughout the holiday season, Timberland retail stores also engaged consumers through an in-store fundraising effort to support Habitat for Humanity. Consumers donated $11,808 and Timberland matched $10,000, bringing the total donation to almost $22,000. Funds raised will support Habitat’s long-term recovery work to address the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria in the fall. 

To kick off the 26th year of its Path of ServiceTM program, the brand last week held an in-house event benefitting the American Heart Association’s Little Hats Big Hearts Campaign. Employees knitted over 40 red hats to be distributed to participating hospitals during the month of February in honor of American Heart Month. The hats will be given to babies born in February, to raise awareness and inspire moms to take their families’ heart health to heart.

“In-house events are always popular with employees in the winter months. After the rush of the holidays, people are happy to come together and do something good for their community,” said Jill Holt, organizer of Timberland’s monthly in-house service events. “Making these tiny hats is a great way for employees to use their skills, and their Path of ServiceTM volunteer hours, to help a cause that is close to their hearts.”

The rest of the Community Engagement Team is also working to plan the company’s larger-scale events, including a service project for the North American sales team, and their spring pillar event, Earth Day.
