NEW YORK, AUGUST 18, 2016 /3BL Media/ – For the sixth year, Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today kicks-off back-to-school season with an expanded multi-platform education campaign entitled, “Regresa a Clases con Univision” (Back to School with Univision). UCI has expanded the scope and duration of this year’s efforts, which will now run through October.  The campaign is providing parents, students, mentors and educators with more than 10 weeks of programming on a variety of education topics, including ideas for early-childhood enrichment, college prep, STEM skills and applying for financial aid through the FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid), among others.

As part of this year’s expanded efforts, Univision Contigo is working with the Televisa Foundation to host coding parties to inspire young people to hone their skills in a fun, accessible and social way. In addition, UCI will unveil five all-new Univision Media Centers in Austin, Chicago, Miami, Oakland and Los Angeles, which will provide students with the tools and training to understand how a media newsroom operates and gain experience with production and editing equipment. The education campaign will again include education fairs across the country where more than 300 non-profit organizations will provide valuable information, resources and tips on financing education, enrichment programs and educations services. Additionally, Univision will hold various Parent Academies to empower Hispanic parents to help their children achieve their educational and career goals.

“Regresa a Clases con Univision,” the country’s longest-running multimedia education campaign on the air today, will leverage all of the Company’s platforms to deliver information, including television, digital, radio, social media, and community events, to create awareness and engagement around the most important education issues for Hispanic families. Interviews with education experts will be featured across Univision Network programs, including Noticiero Univision, Al Punto, Aquí y Ahora, Despierta América, HOY and Primer Impacto, in addition to local newscasts, radio and public affairs programming. Univision will also feature special segments produced in partnership with the Televisa Foundation and The Gates Foundation.

“We are expanding Univision’s back to school initiative as we know that engaging and empowering the growing number of Hispanic students and their parents is critical to academic success,” said Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, Executive Vice President of Government & Corporate Affairs. “Regresa a Clases con Univision strives to help the Hispanic community throughout every stage of the education journey and this year’s campaign gives us more time to go in-depth on the issues most important to parents and students.”

Originally launched in February 2010, Univision Contigo’s education platform remains the nation’s longest-running multi-media education campaign on the air. Today, with the help of leading organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Too Small to Fail, the Bezos Family Foundation, XQ Institute, and Common Sense Media, among others, the initiative continues to empower Hispanic families to invest in their child’s education in order to ensure their success in college and beyond.
