(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) New York, NY - October 6, 2010 - The Breast Form Fund, CancerCare, Cancer Resource Foundation, and Luminous Breast Cancer Foundation announce a partnership to combine fundraising efforts to support women with breast cancer. The first fundraiser for the newly formed All4One Alliance is the 2011 Show Us Your BRA!™ Calendar, a wall calendar which features humorous, cleverly-named “bra-art” to inspire the viewer and to raise awareness about the importance of post-mastectomy apparel and prostheses in maintaining the health and well-being of women recovering from and living with this illness.
Available for purchase online now, and coming soon to lingerie boutiques nationwide, the calendar features designs by soon-to-be-known bra-tistes and celebrity contributors, including India.Arie, Emme, Rebecca Minkoff, Diane Birch, Aimee Allen, and Anwar Robinson. The calendar retails for $15USD, and proceeds benefit All4One Alliance, helping its members provide free breast prostheses and post-mastectomy bras for underserved women living with and beyond breast cancer. “Too often, after breast cancer surgery, women face monetary barriers as they seek breast prostheses and post-mastectomy bras and garments,” said Karleen Habin, Co-Chair for All4One. “These products can improve a woman’s quality of life both physically and emotionally, and all women deserve access to the dignity they provide.” The 2011 Show Us Your Bra™ Calendar, a project of All4One Alliance (http://www.all4onealliance.org/), raises money to fill this need for underserved women – those without health insurance, those whose insurance doesn’t cover this service, and those whose co-pays or co-insurances effectively deny them access to this service. The calendars are available at lingerie shops nationwide, through the generous support of founding sponsor, Amoena, and online through the All4One Alliance at www.all4onealliance.org/. History Show Us Your BRA!™ Calendar began as a contest in 1998 as part of the 20th anniversary of Gazebo, a lingerie and post-mastectomy shop in Northampton, Massachusetts. Owner Judith Fine and colleague Emma Dostal wanted to celebrate brave and creative women. They asked artists and artists-at-heart to submit beautiful or humorous bra designs that combined fashion and fun. The contest was so enthusiastically received that a second one was held in 1999. The beautiful, funny and festive “bra-art” created by the bratistes for these two events became the features in the first Show Us Your Bra!™ Calendar (2000). Sales of the calendar benefited The Breast Form Fund (http://www.thebreastformfund.org), a fund that offers financial assistance to uninsured and underinsured women to purchase breast prostheses and post-mastectomy bras after breast cancer surgery. The Calendar was produced yearly through 2009. About All4One Alliance Through a series of interconnected events, leaders in four nonprofits realized ways in which calendar sales could provide financial help to women beyond Massachusetts, especially as real income shrank during the Great Recession. They banded to form the All4One Alliance to continue and expand the work of Ms. Fine and Ms. Dostal. All4One Alliance is a partnership of The Breast Form Fund (http://www.thebreastformfund.org/), CancerCare (http://www.cancercare.org/), Cancer Resource Foundation, Inc. (http://cancer1source.org/), and Luminous Breast Cancer Foundation (http://luminousfoundation.org/). The Alliance shares one vision: to improve the quality of life underserved women experience as they live with and beyond breast cancer. It helps underserved women maintain dignity and self-esteem by providing free breast prostheses and bras, free professional support, and information. The Alliance received founding support from Amoena (http://www.amoena.com/us). ALL4ONE9549
