2015 GBCHealth-GHC Business Action on Health Awards | Call For Applications
April 29, 2015 /3BL Media/ - GBCHealth and Global Health Council (GHC) are pleased to announce a call for applications for the 2015 GBCHealth-GHC Business Action on Health Awards. These awards highlight the important and innovative contributions of the corporate sector to improving global health outcomes. Among the most coveted honors in the Corporate Social Responsibility arena, the Business Action on Health Awards have been recognizing outstanding private sector global health programs for over a decade.
In recent years, the Business Action on Health Awards have recognized the cutting-edge work and leadership of companies such as HP, The Coca-Cola Company, MTV Networks, and BD (Becton, Dickinson & Co.). In 2014, GBCHealth and GHC awarded GSK theCommunity Investment Award for their “20% Reinvestment Initiative” which focused on improving healthcare infrastructure in the world’s least developed countries by training frontline health workers. Unilever was awarded the Partnership/Collective Action Award for their “Lifebuoy Initiative”, which supports sustainable improvements in health and hygiene by changing everyday hand-washing habits.
This year’s awards will focus on two categories: Application of Core Business Competencies andInnovation & Technology to Improve Health. Applications are encouraged from companies with direct health mandates, as well as those whose work may contribute to health goals through more indirect means.
In this historic year during which the global health community is shifting its attention from completion of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to a health and development framework delineated through the emerging Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), applicants are encouraged to highlight links between their activities and the MDGs/SDGs.
The 2015 winner will be announced during a high-level GHC event in November—details on this event will be released in the coming months. Category details are available in the application forms. Corporations are invited to enter their award-worthy global health programs in either category by 11:59pm ET on Friday, June 12. Nonprofits who collaborate with corporations are encouraged to nominate their corporate partner and to support their application. Applications are reviewed by an independent, multi-sectorial panel of internationally respected experts.
