3Mers Step Up to Help in Ukraine

After putting out a call for donations to help people in embattled Ukraine, 3Mers around the globe have stepped up.
As of March 15, 2,508 3Mers have donated more than US $376,000 through GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund Microsite. With the 3M Foundation dollar-for-dollar match, that means more than US$752,000 will be put toward basic needs for those affected by the invasion of the country – things like food, shelter and clean water, as well as access to education and mental health resources.
The employee contributions are on top of 3Mgives’ commitment of at least $2 million to directly support relief efforts, as well as the heartfelt direct donations of housing, money and personal goods 3Mers have sent to colleagues in Ukraine.
“I am humbled and proud by what you do to help people, guided by our purpose,” Mike Roman, 3M chairman and CEO, told employees in an email about the donations.
3M business groups have also donated wound care and other medical supplies to doctors and medical workers assisting those in need through humanitarian organizations, including negative pressure wound treatment supplies for frontline surgeons. And our Global Service Centers organized quickly to arrange for almost 400,000 N95 respirators intended for shipment to Ukraine via Direct Relief.
“I am overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of support from 3Mers who have stepped up in so many ways to help. While we all hope for a swift conclusion to the conflict, we will continue to stand with, and support, our Ukrainian colleagues and their communities,” said Zoe Dickson, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, 3M.
As part of 3M’s work to help, 3Mgives is ensuring that employees continue to have opportunities to assist – like with the matching gift program – and that the collected resources are focused on the people and areas most affected by the invasion.
“Many of our colleagues are helping the people of Ukraine, including refugees with transport and accommodation. It’s an incredible show of support,” said Lars Hanseid, SVP 3M Country Governance and Services, EMEA. “In addition, 3Mers are donating money and aid products from all over Europe. This great commitment is currently helping to alleviate the greatest need. It is important that the people of Ukraine know that 3M is a company that values solidarity and active support, now and as we face future challenges.”
