Accenture Grants Social Business Women US$1.3 Million to Help Women in Germany Find Jobs or Start Businesses
Grant is part of Accenture’s Skills to Succeed corporate citizenship initiative
BERLIN, Dec. 11, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Accenture and the Accenture Foundations have awarded Social Business Women US$1.3 million to deliver job and entrepreneurial skills training to more than 2,000 women in Germany who experience barriers to employment because of difficult life situations.
The award is part of Accenture’s corporate citizenship initiative Skills to Succeed, which will equip more than 700,000 people around the world by 2015 with the skills to get a job or build a business. Over a four-year period, the grant will enable Social Business Women to expand within Germany from one to at least five locations, providing skills training to help women seeking employment or entrepreneurship. In addition to the grant, Accenture people will provide Social Business Women with pro bono services that support program management and expansion.
Social Business Women works with local nonprofits to help women who face a wide range of challenging situations, such as unemployment, single motherhood or financial hardship, enter or re-enter the job market through employment or through starting a small business.
“Social Business Women shares our commitment to building employment and entrepreneurial skills that can help women get jobs or establish businesses that bring them, their families and their local communities more financial independence,” said Jill Huntley, managing director, Global Corporate Citizenship, Accenture. “By partnering with Social Business Women, we can help the organization expand, broaden their reach and increase their impact, as they strive to build the confidence and capabilities of women.”
“In Germany, these women face a range of economic, regulatory and social barriers that prohibit them from finding a job or starting their own business and are, therefore, heavily underutilized,” said Gabriele Moehlke, co-founder, Social Business Women.” This grant will help us improve the economic situation of more women, their families and local communities by boosting their skill set and confidence to integrate more easily into society.”
