The Advanced Coronary (ACT) Foundation
(3BL Media) March 14, 2012 - Sanofi Canada is a proud partner of the Advanced Coronary Treatment (ACT) Foundation. This is the only program of its kind worldwide.
The Advanced Coronary Treatment (ACT) Foundation brings CPR and defibrillator training programs to high schools across Canada. The Foundation is dedicated to empowering Canadians to save lives, and its goal is to see all youth graduate with these skills and knowledge.
The program involves training high school teachers as CPR and defibrillator instructors for their students. More than 4,500 teachers are now trained instructors, and ACT has already donated more than 45,000 high quality mannequins to high schools, ensuring a 1:1 mannequin/student ratio.
To date, more than 1.8 million young people have been trained in CPR by their high school teachers, with an additional 300,000 receiving the training each year. Many lives are being saved thanks to this program, which also has a strong health promotion component, encouraging youth to adopt healthy habits at a young age.
