AEG’s SOMOS Employee Network Group Partners With LA Galaxy To Host Career Exploration Program for High School Students in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the SOMOS@AEG employee network group teamed up with AEG’s LA Galaxy to host a career exploration event “AEG Futures” for more than 40 Latinx students from local high school schools at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
AEG Futures, which took place on September 17, 2022, offered students the opportunity to learn about careers in the sports and music industry through a panel discussion and one-on-one conversations that focused on career paths and highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the industry. The panel was moderated by Urel Martinez (SVP Sales and Services from Dignity Health Sports Park) with Latinx AEG colleagues, Ignacio Guerra (SVP Operations & Building Engineering at Crypto.com Arena), Edgar Bautista (Associate Art Director at AXS), Sahra Roberts (Director of Privacy and Consumer Data Governance at AEG), Rene Contreras (Talent Buyer, Regional Festivals at AEG), and Brittney Garza (Director of Security at Dignity Health Sports Park). Additionally, representatives from Miguel Contreras Learning Complex and CARECEN were also present.
Following the panel, students were partnered with AEG team members to receive individual mentorship and advice on personal development and future career opportunities while enjoying an exciting match against the Colorado Rapids as the LA Galaxy celebrated Central American Heritage Night at the stadium.
“Diversity and inclusion, as well as representation, matter at AEG,” shared Chantel Diaz (DE&I Program Manager at AEG). “It’s so impactful for these students to see individuals who look just like them working in the live entertainment and sports industry. We hope that the connections that the students are building during these career development events reaffirms to them that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.”
The AEG Futures Career Exploration program offers high school and college age students the chance to learn first-hand from industry professionals about career opportunities in sports and live music. Over the years, AEG has hosted multiple in-person and virtual events in conjunction with its music festivals including Goldenvoice’s Day N Vegas, Arroyo Seco Weekend and the BET’s BET Experience Youth Program at L.A. LIVE, among others.
