AEP Educates About Storm Safety, Downed Power Lines

Tropical storms and hurricanes come with high winds and lots of rain. While these conditions can be dangerous enough, it often brings power lines down, which can deadly. You should NEVER touch a downed line. If you see a downed line, stay away and keep others away. Call 911 immediately and your local power company. Always remember, you can't see, smell or hear electricity, so always assume power lines are live and energized. Stay away, stay safe. This factsheet has more downed line safety tips.
