AEP Releases 2012 Corporate Accountability Report
American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) is at the forefront of a major transformation of the electric utility industry in the United States. In its 2012 Corporate Accountability Report, AEP outlines the significant challenges it is faced with and its strategy for a sustainable transformation. Several factors, including the economy, the cost-competitiveness of natural gas versus coal, aging coal units, and increased market competition are the key drivers of this transition. The report also received a GRI-checked Application Level A for the fourth consecutive year. This is AEP’s third integrated report and the sixth year of reporting sustainability performance.
