Africa: A Little Bits journey
Earlier this year, we announced the global launch of the Nutrilite Power of 5 Campaign to build awareness and raise funds for the distribution of Nutrilite Little Bits, a micronutrient powder and our solution in the fight against childhood malnutrition.
Jeff Terry, Amway global manager of corporate social responsibility, recently visited Africa for two weeks on a two-part mission: First, to continue planning the expansion of Little Bits into more countries, and second, to visit the current Little Bits program families in Zambia.
His first stop was Johannesburg, South Africa, where he met with Amway Business Owners and nongovernmental organizations about introducing Little Bits there in 2015. Amway is committed to expand the Little Bits program to 17 countries over the next three years.
Later, he traveled to Zambia, one of the first places we implemented the Little Bits program. He met with the Christian Alliance for Children in Zambia to solidify plans for another trip in September designed for ABOs. It will give a small group of ABO leaders an in-depth view into the distribution of Little Bits and how it affects the lives of children and their families.
He finished his visit by participating in one of the monthly Little BIts distribution and assessments events, where he met some of the more than 125 families in the program.
“It is exciting to meet with each family because I can visibly see the difference that Little Bits is making,” Jeff said. “Over the past 3 years, it’s like we’ve become part of their family. I’ve seen each child grow healthy and strong — and I know what we’re doing really matters.”
