Alerts Subscription: Smelter Verification for Conflict Minerals

The Conflict Minerals Resource Center (CMRC) has recently added a new feature that alerts members of the CMRC when there has been a notable change made to smelters and reporting templates. This resource center provides information and training for vendors, suppliers and other companies in the supply chains of members.

The CMRC supports more than 15,000 member companies, and this number is increasingly growing everyday. Last year, seven of the worlds largest industry associations (American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the Fashion Jewelry and Accessories Trade Association (FJATA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the National Retail Federation (NRF), the Toy Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA)) collaborated with Source Intelligence and Schulte Roth and Zabel LLP to launch the first cross-industry training and resource center, addressing the Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) Conflict Minerals compliance regulation. The key representatives mentioned aligned to form training and resource center priorities to provide member companies with the information they need to comply with the SEC regulation.

The CMRC’s tools and resources have helped companies understand the complicated requirements of the regulation, recognizing that it is the responsibility of individual companies to identify their specific compliance obligations and handle the real challenges that remain as they design their own programs.

The Conflict Minerals Resource Center has added an alerts function to assist issuers and non-issuers who have felt a growing pressure to achieve clarity in their smelter information. Whenever there is a new smelter verification for conflict minerals white paper, new webinar, change to smelter information or reporting templates, members will be alerted of these updates.

This new feature alerts CMRC members when there has been a notable change made to smelters and reporting templates.
