FORT WORTH, Texas, October 29, 2021 /3BL Media/ - American Airlines published its latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing the progress the company made in 2020 on key ESG priorities, such as sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Despite this being the most volatile period our industry has ever seen, American continued to prioritize ESG and make meaningful progress in key areas,” American’s Chairman and CEO Doug Parker said in the report’s opening message.

The report features the airline’s updated analysis of its path to net-zero emissions by 2050. Compared to its previous analysis, American’s updated path reflects an expectation for greater availability of sustainable aviation fuel, as well as the approval and adoption of hydrogen and electric propulsion aircraft. The new analysis also reflects American’s commitment to set a science-based target for the year 2035.

The report released today is a companion to American’s full 2019–2020 report, which was released last year and was aligned for the first time with the frameworks of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
