It’s sustainability awards season and we’re honored that NortonLifeLock has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2021. This is the second year that Newsweek and its research partner Statista has released the list of top performing companies in corporate social responsibility in the United States.
The analysis considers the top 2,000 public companies by revenue with headquarters in the U.S. and uses public data and consumer surveys to assess each company’s performance in environment, social, and corporate governance issues.
NortonLifeLock ranked #105 on the list of the 400 most responsible companies and 6th out of 22 in the Software & Telecommunications industry. We received high marks for using renewable energy (24% of the electricity we used in FY20 was renewable energy) and for our commitment to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In FY20 for example, we signed on to the Business in the Community Ireland (BITC)’s Low Carbon Pledge, committing to reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity of our Irish operations by 50% by 2030.
We also scored well in employee volunteering (in FY20 our team spent more than 18,700 hours helping their communities thrive), for our commitment to respecting human rights which we’ve codified in our Human Rights Policy, and for our philanthropic giving ($13 million in charitable giving in FY20).
In addition to this honor, NortonLifeLock has recently been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America indices, Forbes and JUST Capital’s JUST 100, 3BL Media’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens, Points of Light’s Civic 50, and scored a perfect 100 on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
