AOL Impact: First Weekly Round Up of "Cause of the Day"
AOL Impact is our corporate commitment to raising awareness for non-profit organizations that our consumers, employees, and partners care about. We do this by dedicating a space on AOL.com that features a new cause everyday and engages our audience to take action via our AOL Impact site, www.impact.aol.com.
This is the first of our weekly round up of causes we've featured on AOL.com. This month we are shining a spotlight on iconic campaigns from the Ad Council, a non-profit organization that produces, distributes, and promotespublic service campaigns in issue areas such as improving the quality of life for children, preventive health, education, community well being and strengthening families. AOL is a long-time supporter of the Ad Council, and this partnership reflects our media commitment to the organization.

Today, 1 in 88 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, a 600% increase in the past 20 years. Despite this high prevalence, research shows that many parents of young children have very little knowledge about autism. This campaign seeks to educate parents about the growing rate of autism in this country and to ultimately increase the level of early detection. To this aim, the PSAs encourage parents of young children to visit www.autismspeaks.org/signs to learn the early signs of the disorder.
