ETH Zurich offers summer research internships within the Amgen Scholars Program for students studying for a Bachelor's degree at a European university. Internships are available in the Departments of Biology, Biosystems Science and Engineering, and Health Sciences and Technology, and in the Institutes of Biomedical Engineering and Neurosciences. The ten-week program covers nine weeks of intensive research in a state-of-the art laboratory in Zurich or Basel. Working as part of a research team, you will have the opportunity to interact with leading scientists and PhD students. A closing highlight of the program is experience is the joint symposium for all European Amgen Scholars in the final (tenth) week.
In addition to conducting hands-on research, as an Amgen Scholars at ETH you will attend lectures and workshops offering both insights into state-of-the art research and the opportunity to learn cross-cutting skills such as communication, scientific writing and intercultural skills. The program begins with an orientation retreat, where students get to know their supervisors and their fellow scholars.

ETH Zurich is regularly ranked among the best universities in the world. 21 Nobel Laureates have studied, taught or conducted research at ETH. The transfer of research outcomes to the economy and society at large is a key concern of ETH Zurich. It does this very successfully: each year some 80 new patent applications are filed and since 1996, over 280 spin-off companies have emerged out of research done by ETH faculty, research staff or students.
