Aramark Employees Bring Energy and Expertise to Inspire Kids to be Healthy for Life on First Annual Global Volunteer Day
Global Volunteer Day will take place March 19, 2014
Aramark Enriching Lives Every Day
Global Volunteer Day will take place March 19, 2014, when thousands of Aramark employees will volunteer together, bringing the power of their collective energy and expertise to help build and strengthen the communities where our employees live and work.
The Global Volunteer Day theme, “Inspiring Kids To Be Healthy For Life,” focuses on empowering children and families worldwide to make healthy nutrition and activity choices.
On that day, volunteers will be demonstrating the company’s mission to enrich and nourish lives, and Aramark employees’ collective passion for service. Employees will mobilize in a hands-on opportunity to impact the wellness of thousands of children worldwide.
Throughout the day, volunteers will participate in a wide range of projects that will inspire children to stay healthy and active. Volunteers will create new play spaces, encourage kids to eat healthy snacks and educate them about nutrition and wellness with demonstrations and food samplings by our expert dietitians and culinary professionals.
In Miami, for example, we will partner with Branches, a community center focused on healthy living, to create a new children’s produce garden and outdoor classroom. Children will join the day’s events and will receive healthy snack packs created by Aramark volunteers. In the U.K., volunteers will host health and wellness fairs in London, Aberdeen, Birmingham and Alton. And in Chicago our dietitians and culinary professionals will teach pre-schoolers about healthy food at Casa Central.
For those who are not able to join the activities on March 19, a “virtual” food drive will be available online so any employee can participate in the Global Volunteer Day.
Global Volunteer Day is an extension of Aramark Building Community, the company’s signature volunteer and philanthropic program that has impacted nearly 4 million people in 52 cities worldwide. Through Aramark Building Community, we enrich lives by helping to improve family health, prepare youth and adults for work, and support individuals and families working their way out of poverty.
