Aramark Employees Help Dallas Families Lead Healthier Lives
Aramark brings health and wellness education and awareness programs to Buckner Family & Children Services as part of Aramark Building Community Day
DALLAS, September 28, 2016 /3BL Media/ – As part of Aramark’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, more than 150 Aramark associates united at Dallas’ Buckner Family & Children Services to inspire families to make healthy food, nutrition and lifestyle choices. This year, Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day), the company’s global day of service, supported the company’s Healthy for Life® 20 by 20 commitment with the American Heart Association to improve the health of Americans by 20 percent by 2020.
Aramark hosted healthy home meal and recipe education classes, conducted nutritional workshops and revitalized an outdoor play area. Additionally, Aramark employees built an outdoor classroom for ongoing fitness and nutrition programming and created 1,000 healthy snack pack kits for local children. Since 2014, Aramark has partnered with Buckner International for ABC Day, in addition to hosting healthy home meal and recipe education classes and nutritional workshops year-round.
“We are committed to our mission of delivering experiences that enrich and nourish lives, in the locations where we serve our clients and customers, and in our local communities,” said Eric J. Foss, Aramark Chairman, President and CEO. “Aramark Building Community Day highlights this year-round commitment. I’m proud of our associates who lend their unique skills and expertise to improve the health of tens of thousands of families by inspiring people to make healthy food, nutrition and lifestyle choices part of their everyday lives.”
Around the world, thousands of Aramark associates, including chefs, nutritionists and dietitians, volunteered at community centers and nonprofit groups as one demonstration of the year-round dedication of Aramark employees to strengthening local communities.
“We’re very grateful to Aramark and its employees for taking the time yesterday, and throughout the year, to share their skills and expertise with the Buckner community,” said Albert Reyes, President and CEO, Buckner International. “Buckner is very proud of our ongoing partnership with Aramark and to be part of this important day. We know that the educational and transformational projects will have a lasting impact on our organization and the long-term health of the Dallas community.”
The effort at Buckner was part of Aramark Building Community, the company’s year-round global volunteer and philanthropic program. Since 2008, Aramark has invested more than $9 million in expertise, financial and in-kind resources to empower youth and adults to lead healthier lifestyles and succeed in the workforce in partnership with community centers in 52 cities.
