Aramark Volunteers in Chicago and Los Angeles Inspire Families to Lead Healthy Lifestyles
In Chicago and Los Angeles, volunteers join Aramark Building Community Day
Aramark volunteers from Chicago and Los Angeles joined more than 12,000 of their colleagues worldwide to bring health and wellness education to the communities where they live and work.
“Every year, thousands of Aramark team members come together to volunteer their time and talent on Aramark Building Community Day,” said Jeff Gilliam, President of Aramark’s Higher Education business. “Our 100 team members at UCAN brought health and wellness education to Chicago families and achieved our goal of creating long-lasting health and wellness programs, here in Chicago.”
“We are grateful and energized by Aramark making such a significant investment of time and resources in UCAN that will benefit the youth and families we serve as well as our dedicated employees,” said UCAN President and CEO Zack Schrantz. “This type of hands-on corporate engagement from a community-focused company whose employees share our commitment to youth and community is how collaboration makes a lasting difference in communities.”
ABC Day projects at UCAN included:
- Food discovery experiences and nutrition workshop with adults
- Revitalization of outdoor play spaces
- Creation of inspirational murals

In Los Angeles, team members volunteered their time at Van Ness Elementary School, to bring health and wellness education to students and community members.
