Arrow Electronics Employees Build Food Kits for Colorado Students in Need
CENTENNIAL, Colo., August 14, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Arrow Electronics employees participated in their first virtual charity activity since the outbreak of the coronavirus, building food kits that will be distributed to Colorado students who rely on school meals to help fill nutrition needs during the summer.
About 100 members of Arrow’s networking and leadership development group, Arrow Yields Professionals (AYP), participated in the event, assembling kits during July 13 to Aug. 3. The group teamed with WeHero, which plans and executes virtual volunteer events and Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States.
Using pre-paid gift cards provided by AYP, participants purchased groceries based on lists supplied by WeHero, developing “Packs of Inspiration” for 300 children.
“The greatest challenges often foster creative solutions inspired by others. In this case, we were so fortunate to work with experienced partners like WeHero and Feeding America, who helped ensure that our event was well executed and provided us with a direct way to impact those in need in our community,” said Arrow senior events manager Kirsten Lonnquist.
Arrow encourages purposeful community engagement, and supports employees worldwide in their volunteering and charitable giving efforts.
