Arrow Electronics Encourages STEM Learning This Holiday Season

Dec 18, 2018 10:05 AM ET

Arrow Electronics is making it easy for young innovators to build their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills this holiday season. The company is offering a collection of toys designed to teach key STEM-related concepts, including coding, physics and robotics.

Developed by Arrow partners, the options include examples such as:

  • The Google AIY Voice Kit, which teaches kids how to build their very own voice-activated home assistant.
  • R2-D2 Sphero. Star Wars fans can use a smart app to program the robot to complete missions and move just like it does in the movies.
  • littleBits Gizmo & Gadgets. This enables young inventors to create hundreds of projects, including a wireless rover and a rotating light projector.

Arrow has committed to advancing STEM education on a variety of fronts. This past summer, the company sponsored a STEM event at its Centennial, Colo. headquarters to teach kids the fundamentals of motor control, electrical circuits, digital logic, programming and robotics through a series of hands-on activities.

The company is also a longtime sponsor of the FIRST Robotics Colorado Regional Competition, a regional contest pitting student-built robots against each other in a range of challenges, and the Cherry Creek School District’s Cardboard Engineering Challenge, which tasks K-12 students with crafting innovative creations from cardboard and other recycled materials.

Arrow’s education programming reflects the company’s commitment to developing a new generation of technology innovators.
