Arrow Electronics: Innovating Lives

March 14, 2017 /3BL Media/ - About 1 billion people–or 15 percent of the world’s population–live with a physical disability. To serve people with these challenges and make a difference in their lives, Arrow Electronics engages in a continuous stream of innovative projects in countries around the world. Recent examples of how Arrow and its employees are making a difference include:

  • U.S. – By integrating electronics in new ways, Arrow’s semi-autonomous motorcar (SAM Car) has enabled quadriplegic racecar driver Sam Schmidt to race again, demonstrating how technology can bring freedom and opportunity to everyone.
  • Netherlands – Arrow employees support the annual Maria Auxiliatrix Run, in which motorcyclists and individuals with mental and physical disabilities partner to tour the streets of the city.
  • Indonesia – In 2017, Arrow and key partners will deploy 500 “smart” wheelchairs modified with data-logging electronics that measure their use in different situations and terrains. The data will help inform design and development of better wheelchairs to bring new freedom and independence to people with physical disabilities.

In these, and many other local activities, Arrow’s goal is the same: to share its culture of innovation and collaboration with the broader community.
