Arrow Electronics Names Winner of 2017 Cherry Creek Arts Festival “Five Years Out” Art Challenge

CENTENNIAL, Col., June 30, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Arrow Electronics selected Peter Clouse’s “Not Ashamed” (shown above) as the winner of this year’s Cherry Creek Arts Festival’s Five Years Out Art Challenge.

The annual global contest, now in its fifth year, inspires artists to take the concept of innovation and express what Arrow’s Five Years Out brand promise looks like in an artistic medium. At Arrow, a global technology-solutions provider, Five Years Out is the tangible future where what’s possible meets what’s practical—a place where people know that new ideas will make life not only different, but better, smarter, and more inspired. It is within this context that competing artists are challenged to create.  

Created from discarded wires and other materials, Clouse’s work was selected from 117 submissions that Arrow received from artists around the world, including artists from Brazil, Belgrade, Germany, Canada, Nigeria, Sweden and Mexico. Clouse was awarded a $10,000 prize and jury-exempt invitation to exhibit at the 2018 Cherry Creek Arts Festival.

“Every year we are more amazed by artists’ interpretations of innovation and the Five Years Out concept. Each of this year’s seven finalists submitted a forward-thinking piece, but Peter’s notion of sustainability and repurposing of materials offers an innovative option as we move into the world of the future,” said Joe Verrengia, Arrow’s global director of corporate social responsibility.

Arrow also awarded six finalists $5,000 commissions to create their innovative works and showcase them at the 2017 Festival:

• Aaron Hequembourg from Monticello, Georgia for “Always A Driver”

• Amenda Tate Corso from Des Moines, Iowa for “Manibus”

• Amy Leigh Carstensen from Tampa, Florida for “Zen and the Art of Technology”

• Dan Stiles from Portland, Oregon for “Reaching Forward, Reaching Back”

• Edrex Fontanilla from Cranston, Rhode Island for “The Ethical View: Perceptual Fog

• Sharon Brush from Santa Fe, New Mexico for “Safe Passage”

All of the winners’ works will be displayed at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, which kicks of tomorrow and runs through July 3.
