Arrow Electronics Proudly Sponsors Colorado Symphony Very Young Composers’ Performance
CENTENNIAL, Colo., May 9, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) is the presenting sponsor of Saturday's special Colorado Symphony performance at the Denver Performing Arts Center, which featured the orchestra playing musical compositions created by elementary-school students from Cole Arts & Sciences Academy, a Title 1 school in Denver’s Five Points Neighborhood.
The performance was the culmination of the Colorado Symphony’s Very Young Composers Program, where students learn to innovate by composing music with the help of orchestra musicians.
“Colorado-based Arrow supports the Symphony’s Very Young Composers Program to help expand the boundaries of innovation,” said Joe Verrengia, Arrow’s global director of Corporate Social Responsibility. “Innovation doesn’t just happen by magic—the process of innovation can be taught. Rather than diving straight into technology, we start by using music as a step towards developing confident new innovators.”
“I am thrilled to be conducting the compositions of our Very Young Composers program. These works are inventive and a testament to Arrow's vision of innovation to transform ideas into influential achievements," said Symphony Associate Conductor Christopher Dragon.
Colorado Symphony CEO Jerry Kern added, “The Colorado Symphony is committed to excellence, access and inclusion in all areas of our programming and partnerships, especially to historically underserved people, in neighborhood schools and in community venues. The collaboration between Arrow and the Colorado Symphony has allowed these Very Young Composers an unforgettable and invaluable experience that has proved to them their unique ideas are worthy and respected.”
In addition to supporting the Young Composers Program, Arrow is a presenting sponsor for the 2016 Colorado Symphony season. In 2015, Arrow Electronics collaborated with the Colorado Symphony on an original music composition. The Arrow “Five Years Out” overture reflects Arrow’s commitment to innovation and represents the Colorado Symphony's expansion into creating original music.
