Arrow Electronics Shares DigiTruck Success at Posner Center Leadership Event
CENTENNIAL, Colo. , March 16, 2017 /3BL Media/ - The Denver-based Posner Center for International Development’s mission is to build a community of innovators who grow lasting solutions to global poverty.
Arrow Electronics CSR Manager Alex West was recently invited to speak at the Center’s Business Leaders event because of Arrow’s success blending technology and innovation to improve educational opportunities in impoverished regions of the world. West spoke to the crowd of 100-plus Colorado business leaders about Arrow’s continuing work in East Africa.
Arrow and its nonprofit partner Close the Gap are working to bridge the digital divide in Sub-Saharan Africa by providing education resources to students at the Tuleeni Orphanage in Tanzania. With the help of Arrow’s value recovery business, refurbished computer equipment is made available to these students, and the Arrow DigiTruck, a solar-powered mobile classroom, creates a fitting learning environment for this remote area where there is no electricity.
“In this location, for these kids, the DigiTruck is the place where dreams awaken,” West said. “By introducing these students to computers, we are connecting them with the rest of the world, opening them up to learning in a technology economy and steering them to a brighter future.”
