Arrow Electronics Supports Local School District's Emergency Relief Efforts
CENTENNIAL, Colo., August 6, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Arrow Electronics is supporting the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund, which has addressed critical needs of students and their families in the Denver metro area during the coronavirus crisis.
The relief fund has supported more than 500 of the Cherry Creek School District’s hardest-hit families since it was established in March, providing food, rent support and cleaning supplies among other items.
Through the relief fund, the foundation and Cherry Creek School District have:
- Distributed more than 47,000 books through 11 sites to help mitigate the “summer slide”
- Partnered with the Aurora Mobile Food Pantry to provide 36,000 meals per week during the month of July
- Distributed 4,000 school supply kits
- Manufactured 5,300 pieces of PPE at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus and other high schools to help protect local health care workers
“Cherry Creek Schools quickly shifted gears to provide help where students and the community need it most. We are proud to support their efforts,” said Joe Verrengia, Arrow’s corporate social responsibility director.
Arrow has been a longtime supporter of the foundation and Cherry Creek Schools, the public school district serving Arrow’s headquarters location in southeast metro Denver.
For the last six years, Arrow has served as presenting sponsor of the district’s Cardboard Challenge, which encourages students to test their engineering skills by using recycled materials to bring creative ideas to life. Arrow employees participate as judges and volunteers in the STEM education event. The company also helped fund a teacher-training initiative designed to instruct teachers on how to teach innovation.
