Arrow Electronics Teams with Denver Broncos and Colorado Technology Association to Recognize Top STEM Educators
DENVER, December 14, 2016 /3BL Media/ - For the second consecutive year, the Denver Broncos and Colorado Technology Association (CTA) joined forces to celebrate and recognize the state’s most innovative science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educators:
- Axel Reitzig, a computer science teacher and robotics project manager in Longmont
- Heidi Ragsdale, an eighth-grade science teacher in Grand Junction
- Tara Smith, a middle-school engineering teacher and makers space instructor in Thornton
“As both a Denver Broncos Tackle STEM founding partner and CTA member, Arrow is proud to support the Tackle STEM Coach of the Month Award program,” said Alex West, global corporate social responsibility manager at Arrow, and one of the judges for this year’s awards.
“At Arrow, teaching innovation is a central pillar of our philanthropy and STEM education efforts,” continued West. “We believe it’s important to support impactful programs like this one that recognize the inspiring educators who are guiding innovation forward for the next generation of STEM professionals.”
Winners and nominees of the Denver Broncos Tackle STEM Coach of the Month program receive official certificates signed by CTA’s CEO Andrea Young, as well as Russell Okung (#73) and Casey Kreiter (#42)—Broncos players who are passionate about, and actively involved in, the Tackle STEM program. The winning educators also receive a prize package from the Broncos, which includes a Broncos Tackle STEM jersey to display in their classrooms and a STEM-focused tour of Sports Authority Field at Mile High, where the Broncos play.
Colorado STEMworks program administrators are eligible to nominate STEM educators for the annual award. Nominees are judged on their methodology, leadership and level of innovation in their respective classrooms. The educator’s course offerings and involvement with STEM programs outside of the classroom are also taken into consideration.
