Atlantic Copper, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Receives Corporate Social Responsibility Award
Atlantic Copper, a subsidiary of Freeport-McMoRan, operates a copper smelting and refining complex in Huelva, Spain.
Atlantic Copper recently became the first company in the metals industry sector to receive IQNet SR10 certification for implementing, maintaining and improving its corporate social responsibility management system.
The certificate, developed by IQNet, the world’s largest certification network, and awarded by the Spanish Association of Standards and Certification or AENOR, has been issued only 48 times and in 14 countries worldwide. It recognizes an organization that demonstrates a comprehensive and rigorous approach to corporate social responsibility through its overall management policy.
To receive IQNet SR10 certification, an organization must implement a social responsibility management system that is compatible with other management system classifications, such as ISO standards, and aligned with existing consensus documents, such as the International Labor Organization and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
For many years, Atlantic Copper has worked to implement systems and strategies that protect local communities and the natural world, ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations, and foster open communication with employees and the community.
