Baker Hughes Foundation Working With Singapore Management University To Find New Opportunities To Support Social Innovation
SINGAPORE, August 16, 2022 /3BL Media/ – The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced it is in discussions with the Singapore Management University’s Lien Centre for Social Innovation to contribute a USD $100,000 grant to drive positive social change in Singapore.
The Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI) was established in 2006 to drive social consciousness and enable partnership-driven innovation as a catalyst for positive social change in Singapore, Asia and beyond. Offering thought leadership, evidence-to-action translational research, and capacity-building programs, the centre amplifies impact by giving voice to and empowering and enabling socially conscious individuals and organizations to learn, ideate and collaborate.
Baker Hughes recently expanded its presence in Asia through the opening of a new Singapore chemicals manufacturing facility to support regional customers, localization and carbon reduction efforts.
Baker Hughes is committed to promoting the safety, health and welfare of the communities where it operates. This proposed partnership with the LCSI is intended to help bring awareness and learning to social issues such as poverty, equity, sustainability, youth mental health, and food support in Singapore. It also plans to enhance the work of Singapore-based non-profit organizations through trainings, events and internships designed to empower youth in experiential learning, self-determination, resilience and employment readiness.
The proposed partnership also supports Baker Hughes’ commitment to advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — specifically SDG 1 through 4 to ensure no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, and quality education.
“Giving back to communities where we live and work is a critical part of our company strategy. We share in SMU’s commitment to driving social change and awareness and are proud to embark on this proposed partnership,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes. “Collaboration is key to our success as a company and as a society. We look forward to building this relationship over the years to drive sustained, long-term impact in the region.”
