The Balance Between REACH and Public Disclosure: Emerging Trends in the EU

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – As European companies prepare to meet ongoing and new REACH registration requirements, one emerging theme being discussed at this week’s ChemCom Europe conference is having the ability to accurately trace and verify products and their components throughout the entire supply chain network.

Companies in the European Union (plus Iceland, Lichtenstein & Norway – also covered by REACH) are also battling concerns about how much information (i.e. intellectual property) they are willing to proactively disclose and how much impact compliance will have on business continuity.

REACH regulations are designed to improve the protection of humans and environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. It also promotes alternative methods for hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals.
