Balfour Beatty Construction Golf Benefit Raises More Than $48,000 For Arts Education

ORLANDO, Fla., October 7, 2013 /3BL Media/ – The second annual Balfour Beatty Construction Golf Benefit in Orlando raised over $48,000 to benefit arts education partnerships through the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The tournament was held on Oct. 7 at The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes with 139 golfers participating in the event. Balfour Beatty Construction actively supports arts education as an essential part of a comprehensive education for our children and youth in the Central Florida area.

Beneficiaries of the golf tournament proceeds will be K-12 students with local public organizations and school programs through collaborative efforts with the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The goals of these programs center around exposing various artistic disciplines to young students to promote creative thinking, learning, and working in the classroom. These partnership programs strive to cultivate future artists, art patrons, and appreciative audiences that ultimately will help strengthen the Central Florida community.

Proceeds from the golf benefit were raised through cash donations; sponsored foursomes, golf holes, breakfast, on-course food tents, and beverage carts; as well as sales of mulligan tickets, raffle tickets and live auction items donated by the Orlando Magic, Williams Scotsman, Inc. and Balfour Beatty Construction. Balfour Beatty Construction employees, subcontractors, vendors, industry partners, and Dr. Phillips Center representatives gathered in teams of three or four to compete in the scramble tournament.

Prizes were awarded to teams as well as individual players:
• First place – Howe CxA
• Second place – Tri-City Electrical Contractors, Inc.
• Third place – CEMEX
• Fourth place – Spencer Consulting Services
• Closest to the pin – Justin Mahaney, United Forming and Matt Reinders, Randall Mechanical, Inc.
• Longest drive – Jeremy Johnson, CEMEX

“This year’s golf benefit was even more successful than our inaugural benefit last year,” said Sean DeMartino, division president for Balfour Beatty in Florida.   “Our industry partners who participated again this year plus new supporters are helping directly benefit arts education for young students. I’m really looking forward to this becoming a signature event that continues to benefit the Central Florida community.”
