Banorte Supports Educational Programs for Children and Youths, in Conjunction with OEI

December 11, 2015 /3BL Media/ - With the intention of promoting educational projects for Mexican children and youth, Grupo Financiero Banorte (GFNorte) signed a collaboration agreement with representation in Mexico of the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI) for education, science and culture. This alliance seeks to design, and promote strategies to strengthen the preparation of students in Mexico. 

One of its first acts will be to launch the “Mil sueños por cumplir” (Thousand Dreams to Fulfill)  program through the Banorte foundation, which aims to deliver 495 scholarships to secondary level students; 450 to young people in upper secondary and 100 for those studying in areas such as art and sports.

We know that this program will support a stronger economy in the future," said Rafael Arana de la Garza, COO of the institution, who signed the collaboration agreement with the international agency on behalf of Banorte. 

Arturo Velázquez Jiménez, OEI’s Director and representative in Mexico mentioned: "this program seeks to be a tool to enhance the performance of Mexican students and contribute to strengthening knowledge and social integration through education, culture and sports, thereby ratifying the organization’s purpose."

Thus, this alliance represents the support of practices that promote the universalization of the right to an education, improvement of quality and equality in access and permanence to the school system.

Fundación Banorte and OEI intend, in this first agreement, to promote, implement and disseminate programs and activities relating to education, culture, science, technology, innovation and social development; teaching, extension and research services.

This program also seeks to streamline and increase the efficiency of the efforts made respectively in the sphere of competence, to contribute to the Ibero-American social-educational development.

During the signing of the agreement, Friné Salguero, Director of Fundación Banorte commented, "our main intent is to add capabilities, efforts and resources that will provide solutions to some of the challenges in terms of educational supply and demand in Mexico".
