A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

It is here! This week kicks off our 9th annual Global Giving Week. Last year, NRG employees across 13 states volunteered over 6,300 hours, served 74 nonprofits and donated in excess of $5 million dollars – pretty awesome. I couldn’t be more excited to join you once again this year, as we serve our neighbors and friends over the next several days. With more than 92 volunteer opportunities from food banks, to gardening, to solar installation – together, we’re going to make a big impact in our community this year! 

Whether you’ve been with NRG for a week, or the last 10 years, you’ve probably noticed that we place an incredible value on maintaining a strong connection with our neighbors. Volunteer opportunities like these give us a unique and personal way to connect to each other and our community in a meaningful way. Any company can simply make donations, but our #SweatEquity takes NRG’s community support to the next level. 

For my colleagues at NRG, I encourage you to take advantage of this week – enjoy the quality time with your team members, make fresh memories that go beyond your “day job,” and take a moment to feel proud of your contribution. All of the this week’s volunteer opportunities came from employee nominations – our way of ensuring that we’re supporting the organizations and causes that mean the most to you and your community. Service is not a “one size fits all” experience, but I hope that we all walk away from this week with a renewed enthusiasm for both our role here at NRG as well as our ability to make a difference in our neighborhoods and the organizations we support.
