St. Paul, Minn., Nov. 28, 2012 /3BL Media/ – The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) released today “A Practical Perspective on Managing Water-Related Business Risks and Opportunities in the Beverage Sector”, a document developed through a collaborative effort of BIER members for the purpose of sharing collective experience with proactively identifying, prioritizing, and managing water-related risks and opportunities.

This sector perspective provides a common approach within the beverage industry to assess the technical and business aspects of water risks and opportunities. It shares member thoughts and experiences on gathering data and using the wide variety of tools, resources, and guidance available to support such endeavors. While the Perspective has a beverage sector focus, the information and concepts are applicable to other industry sectors.

“Although the beverage sector has been recognized as being more proactive on managing water issues, much remains to be done,” says Tod Christenson, Director, BIER. “There are many water-related challenges ahead that require actionable solutions.  Our hope is that this document provides unique and practical insight into more effectively managing water-related business risks and opportunities.”

The public release of this document further supports BIER’s mission of establishing a common framework for leadership in the realm of water stewardship, creating tools and methodologies, and facilitating the exchange of data and information to accelerate the process from analysis to sustainable solutions.
