BJ’s Wholesale Club Partners with More Than 200 Schools to Help Students Thrive

September 10, 2015 /3BL Media/ - BJ’s Wholesale Club today announced partnerships with 213 schools through the organization’s Adopt-A-School program. At the beginning of each school year, every BJ’s Wholesale Club and Distribution Center partners with a local school to help enhance existing programs and curriculum objectives. Since 1996, the program has contributed $1.9 million in funding to thousands of schools across BJ’s 15-state footprint.

“Providing teachers with valuable resources to help create exciting learning opportunities for students is why our Adopt-A-School program was established,” said Jessica Newman, assistant vice president of community affairs and communications at BJ's Wholesale Club. "For 20 years this program has given support to help ensure local children receive a quality education.”

Schools participating in BJ’s Adopt-A-School Program will receive a one-time donation of $500 in the form of a check or a club gift card. The donation goes toward discretionary programs, such as field trips and special events, reading programs or other educational needs. The schools will also receive a complimentary BJ’s Business Membership, offering access to low-cost, high-quality supplies to help them throughout the year.

In addition, every school will receive a $100 DonorsChoose.org gift card to help fund classroom projects. Public school teachers from across America post project requests at DonorsChoose.org for needed materials such as books, art supplies, software, etc. Individual or corporate donors are able to search the site and give to the project that
inspires them most.
