Local BJ’s Wholesale Clubs participated in National NeighborWoods® Month, an annual campaign to plant and care for community trees during the month of October. Due to BJ’s partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, BJ’s Clubs learned of various volunteer opportunities to improve their neighborhoods by planting and caring for trees.
BJ’s Team Members joined tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the month to help make communities greener including:
- The BJ’s in Salem, New Hampshire helped to plant trees as part of the expansion of Lawrence’s Urban Canopy in Massachusetts.
- The BJ’s in Howell, New Jersey distributed 50 potted tree samplings to Members to encourage planting in the local community.
- Team Members from the BJ’s in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware visited the Matson Run park area to plant trees.
In 2013, BJ’s joined forces with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant over one million trees by the year 2020 in our nation’s forests and communities devastated by natural disasters.
