Black & Veatch's Yousefelahiyeh Wins California Wastewater Group's Title as Young Professional of the Year
OVERLAND PARK, Kans., June 22, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Just two months ago, Black & Veatch’s Roya Yousefelahiyeh was named her region’s young professional of the year by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). The project engineer for the global infrastructure solutions leader now can add that group’s statewide title to her achievements.
Yousefelahiyeh’s newly announced selection as the “Outstanding Young Professional of 2020-2021” by the CWEA follows the Walnut Creek, California-based engineer’s capturing of the sectional title for the San Francisco Bay area.
Yousefelahiyeh is the treasurer and a board member of that 1,700-member section of the CWEA, a service and educational organization of professionals serving the state’s wastewater industry. The CWEA awards recognize her passion for water reuse, her rapid growth as an engineer and manager, and her community engagement.
Since starting her career in the water industry in 2014, she has worked on the planning, design and construction of several wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. Pursuing her passion for water reuse design, she joined Black & Veatch in 2018 and has been working on the design of recycled water treatment plants.
In nominating Yousefelahiyeh for the sectional award, senior project manager Dan Lopez complimented her growth as an engineer and manager. Lopez noted Yousefelahiyeh’s confidence, dedication and communication with clients. And he credited her attention to detail and technical skill for helping Black & Veatch deliver a complex project on schedule and win a strategic pursuit.
Yousefelahiyeh has a master’s degree in environmental engineering from North Carolina State University.
