Bloomberg Employees Planted 15,000+ Trees Around the World in 2018

More than 2,000 Bloomberg employees dedicated 17,370 hours of hands-on action supporting local greening efforts in 33 cities around the world in 2018. Bloomberg employees were dedicated to preserving and restoring our local green spaces throughout the year. In Sydney, nearly 80 employees contributed almost 200 volunteer hours to the Royal Botanic Garden’s Community Greening Project, which improves social cohesion and public health and reduces crime through communal gardening projects. Bloomberg employees joined senior citizens in mulching and weeding in local gardens, helping to decrease social isolation while improving accessibility to green spaces.

In London, Bloomberg continued its support for Buckhill Meadow with the Royal Parks Foundation, with more than 200 employees providing essential conservation and maintenance throughout the year. Employees also collaborated with Trees for Cities to plant 3,000 trees as part of the London Mayor’s National Tree Week efforts. In New York, through our partnership with Governors Island, more than 600 employees helped construct a new roof for the horticulture shed, cleared 25,000 square feet of park space by removing harmful invasive plants and harvested wildflower seeds to be used for next year’s plantings in Hammock Grove.
