Boeing, SCA Team up to Teach Seattle Youth Green Job Skills

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Seattle, WA  - January 24, 2011 - The Student Conservation Association (SCA) today announced the Boeing Company Charitable Trust has renewed its support for SCA's Seattle community programs through 2011. A new Boeing grant of $75,000 will enable up to 150 Seattle-area high school students to benefit from hands-on outdoor work experience and educational opportunities.SCA community conservation programs serve as an entry point into a continuum of growth opportunities including leadership development, conservation work skills, conservation ethic, and community service. The ultimate objective is to create a diverse, informed and engaged citizenry who will continue to practice stewardship throughout their lifetimes. The SCA experience also creates pathways for young adults to pursue jobs and educational opportunities that might previously have been out of reach.

In particular, Boeing funding will assist with strengthening and expanding its recruitment and retention efforts to ensure that SCA can continue attracting a talented and diverse applicant pool.

"By making these investments, we hope to train the next generation of environmental leaders."

Satz. "In renewing this partnership today, we are renewing our commitment to the future of our young people, environment, and quality of life."

Across the nation, thousands of SCA members annually protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks and community green spaces in all 50 states.
